Worship songs are taking a deeper route now. “A lot of the newer songs today are not as cliché. Because of COVID and other situations, people are either dropping out of church or finding their faith is something they need to really get serious about.” Because of this, she’s seeing a resurgence in people’s faith and a desire to worship God for Who He is and all He can do. Kristi Foss, a longtime worship leader who is currently serving at Thrive Church in Central California, said: “A lot of songs right now are about overcoming a battle. Proverbs 21:31 tells us: “The horse is prepared for the day of battle, but the victory belongs to the LORD.” ![]() Great is They faithfulness, Lord, unto me. In an uncertain economy, that is sure to get worse before it gets better, we can have confidence as we praise Him for His constant faithfulness and sing:Īll I have needed Thy hand hath provided – Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not ![]() What a comfort it is to know that, according to this worship song: They are new every morning Great is Your faithfulness” (NASB). Based on Lamentations 3:22-23, it reassures us that “His compassions do not fail. This old hymn, with lyrics by Thomas Chisholm, reminds us of God’s faithfulness from everlasting to everlasting. We need that reminder that He is our Rock – not our roller coaster – our immovable, ever-dependable Rock of Refuge during these uncertain, ever-changing times. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea” ( Psalm 46:1-2 NASB). This song reminds us that “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Whether they’re psalms set to music, old hymns making a comeback, or newer songs that are particularly relevant to what is happening today, here are eight songs of worship to build your faith when the future looks unclear: Psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs that reinforce the unchanging love and faithfulness of God, His sovereign power over all creation, and His ability to help us overcome, can build our faith during days when dread for the future might otherwise consume us. Ephesians 5:18-19 commands us to be “filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody with your hearts to the Lord” not only as our witness in this world, but as our survival in the midst of darkness. Yet, worship – in all forms – can reset our hearts and minds on things above (Colossians 3:2) and remind us that this earth is not our home (John 15:19). War, disease, and an increasingly tough economy can make anyone feel uncertain, anxious, or even fearful about their future. “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. All you have to do is watch the evening news – or pull it up on your phone throughout the day – and panic can set in about the stability of our future and this country. "But God's firm foundation stands, bearing this seal: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Let everyone who names the name of the Lord depart from iniquity.” ~ 2 Timothy 2:19 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me your rod and your staff, they comfort me." ~ Psalm 23:1-4Īnd I will build my life upon Your love, it is a firm foundationĪnd I will put my trust in You alone and I will not be shakenĪnd I will put my trust in You alone and I will not be shaken. "Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law." ~ Psalm 119:18 Show me who You are and fill me with Your heartĪnd lead me in Your love to those around me Holy, there is no one like You, there is none beside You "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God." ~ Colossians 3:16 ![]() Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise." ~ James 5:13 "Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Worthy of every breath we could ever breathe ![]() Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring
